Access to information on the environment

The Access to Information on the Environment (AIE) Regulations allows you to request environmental information held by public bodies. This may include information on air, water, soil, emissions, and other environmental factors.

How to make an AIE request

To request environmental information, please use our online contact form (choosing the 'Other' category).

You can also submit your request by post to:

Information Officer
Health Products Regulatory Authority
Kevin O'Malley House, Earlsfort Centre,
Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2.
Your request should include:

  • A clear statement that you are making the request under AIE Regulations.
  • A precise description of the environmental information you are seeking.
  • The preferred format for receiving the information (e.g., digital copy, paper copy)

You can expect a response to your AIE request within one month. For complex or voluminous requests, the response time may be extended to two months, but you will be informed of any delays.

There are no initial fees for submitting AIE requests. However, reasonable charges may apply for providing hard copies or large volumes of information. Details of any applicable fees will be included in our response.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your AIE request, you can request an internal review within one month. You may also appeal further to the Commissioner for Environmental Information.
