Submitting an FOI request

The Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) is committed to transparency, openness, and accountability in providing information to the public. As a public body, we adhere to the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2014, which grants individuals the right to:

  • Access official records held by public bodies.
  • Request amendments to personal information if it’s incorrect, incomplete, or misleading.
  • Receive explanations for decisions made by public bodies that affect them.

FOI applies to all records created after 21 April 1998, and in some cases, to earlier records needed to understand more recent documents.

In addition to FOI, you can also request information through:

  • Access to Environmental Information (AIE): Regulations for accessing environmental data held by public authorities.
  • Re-use of Public Sector Information (PSI): Allows for the reuse of information generated by public bodies under a Creative Commons licence.
