National Committee advice and guidance

The National Committee’s primary role involves providing advice to animal welfare bodies (AWBs) and the HPRA on topics concerning the acquisition, breeding, accommodation, care and use of animals in procedures. It also ensures the sharing of best practices.

Although the Committee may receive a request for advice from one party, if it deems that the topic is of wider interest it may make its advice more widely available. Should the Committee chooses to formulate general advice, any intellectual property shared with the Committee in the context of the original request or during the development of the advice will be fully respected. The Committee will determine the most effective method of imparting general advice to stakeholders, which may involve its publication on the website.
